revenge of the wolf spider

Last night I saw an ususual dark blob on my floor. Since it was right near the cats' dishes, which can sometimes include the odd stray bit of kibble that didn't stay on the paper, I paid it no mind until I realized that this dark blob had legs. 'pears to me that this mommy spider had a whole lotta eggs she wanted to leave in a safe warm place. I escorted her outside, poor thing. The last thing I need is to support a home for spider foundlings.

Wolf spiders actually carry their egg sac around with them like that the whole term! When the spiderlings are ready to come out, they crawl up onto their mother, where they ride around for another week or so until they're ready and able to walk about on their own. I'm glad you didn't squish her...but also glad you got her out of your house!

oy vey! Talk about stretch marks.

Say what you will about Charlotte and her offspring and how cute they are - I know they are cool (which is why I saved them), but spiders still creep me out (which is why I threw them outside)...

Yuck! Um, have you ever considered moving? :)

Spiders creep me out. Wolf spiders in particular. Keep them outside!

um, thanks! It's not an anonymous blog so I have to keep things fairly clean (a.k.a. boring). But hey, I hope it's still somewhat entertaining.
