Losing your pants, losing your mind

Everyone sing!

To the tune of "London Bridge":

Stacey's pants are falling down
Falling down, falling down
Stacey's pants are falling down
Up in Warren.

This is my part time job. Welcome to my part time job! I am a reference librarian at the public library. You can come on down and watch me help people. Oh yes, and my supremely comfy cotton jersey gauchos purchased on mega-clearance at Target may just drift below my hips while you're here! Fun for all! Bring the kids.

Writing house

I am fascinated and beguiled by really little houses. I guess I always wanted one stemming back from the backyard playhouses some of my friends had. Well, I happened to visit Michael Pollan's website because I am currently interested in his book about American food habits, and lo and behold, I discovered that he has built the little house of my dreams and purposed it as I would have. I am eighty shades of green.

Black beans extraordinaire

Soak 1 lb dried black beans overnight. Change water, then bring to a boil. While this is reaching a boil, saute 1 yellow onion, diced, 1 T minced garlic, and 1 chopped sweet red pepper until softened and onion is translucent. Toss in 1 to 2 cups finely diced chorizo or similar sausage and continue to saute. Add 1 T chile powder (or more to taste), 1 T ground cumin, handful finely chopped fresh cilantro, 1 t salt, and 1 cup plain tomato sauce. Simmer 20 minutes. Add to the beans and simmer on low heat an hour or so. Serve with rice.
