Just musing out loud

Is driving a big SUV a red flag behavior or a forgivable quirk?

it's a cry for help, as in, "help! i've lost my identity and must use this huge, gas guzzling, wildly unneccessary vehicle to try to post the illusion that i'm a real version of someone i've seen on TV. you're jealous! you know it! at least i think you do! or maybe i hope you do. do you? quick! into the SUV! we can run over a honda and feel big and self important again!"

Big red flag. I've heard the "the gas tanks only about a third bigger, and it's only slightly less efficient" blah blah blah.

What I really boggle about are the new SUV hybrids. Why can't they make hybrids out of normal cars? I like the idea, but geez, I can't possibly do a 2 door car with 2 carseats in the backseat. Even if they got 36 highway miles to the gallon like my Maxx, at 5' in shoes, I'd still HATE scaling the SUV to get the kids in and out of it.

If they could work on the larger sedans and/or wagons, I'd be extremely appreciative. It piques my interest that the Impala can run on E85, but we don't have any stations yet in Jersey.

Oh my. I've already spent a lot of time thinking about this, now, haven't I?
