Just returned from a jaunt to the city to see most of Gomez (Ben, Ian and Tom) perform a live mostly acoustic set at the Housingworks used book cafe and am still somewhat wired and totally unready for sleep.

Companion Chris my copilot called his friend on his cell phone and held it up throughout the show so that his friend in SanFran (who is Gomez' biggest US fan) could listen too. Afterwards, we ran into Ian and Ollie and chatted with them a bit. I LOVE small venue shows - where else can you casually converse with the band you just saw and ask them for pictures?

Anyway, Gomez has a new album out next month. GO and buy it. They are an honestly
original-sounding, truly rocking band. And you might recognize them from a mitsubishi commercial that aired a year ago. At any rate, good fun for all. Not bad for $25, and it was for a good cause. http://www.housingworks.org/usedbookcafe/index.html

As a bonus, I had authentic fish and chips and a pint of Guinness at Puck Fair right across the street. A properly dark and woody pub in the middle of Soho.

As far as nights out go, does it get any better than that? I am thinking that I need to go out more often if there are bands I want to see.
